Daejeon Metropolitan City and the Daejeon Tourism Organization held the Daejeon Medical Tourism Forum on November 21 to strengthen the capacity of partner organizations to attract foreign patients and expand networking.
This medical tourism forum, which aims to expand the capacity and network of partner organizations to attract foreign patients in Daejeon, was co-hosted and organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute and was divided into two sessions.
In Session 1, consisting of expert lectures, the participants shared valuable knowledge and experience and the latest industry trends for vitalizing the medical tourism business through engaging Q&As in the order of ▲ Analysis of Korean medical tourism trends and overseas marketing (Kim Do-hee, Deputy Director, Korea Tourism Organization) ▲ Medical tourism activation strategy through overseas expansion (Lee Yoo-seung, CEO, Asia Dental Partners) ▲ KAHF system guidance for strengthening the capacity of medical institutions to attract foreign patients (Lee Hyeon-gu, Researcher, Korea Health Industry Development Institute) ▲ Global expansion and overseas patient attraction strategy (Kang Heung-rim, Vice President, ATIUM) and ▲ Case study of activation of foreign patient attraction (Park Jong-min, Team Manager, HanGil Eye Hospital).
In the following Session 2, the performance of the selected organizations for the Daejeon medical tourism support project was shared. Through the open invitation in the first half of this year, the Daejeon Tourism Organization chose four organizations, including Daejeon Sun Medical Center, Barun Mind Hospital, Marathon Orthopedic Hospital, and Living International Co., Ltd., as leading organizations fostering the support projects and overseas regional foothold establishment, and supported promotional marketing for target countries to attract foreign patients.
The selected organizations promoted Daejeon's specialized medical tourism products through joint participation in overseas exhibitions and hosting medical seminars. Through the performance sharing, they sought ways to further develop Daejeon's medical tourism with the participating organizations at the event. In addition, awards were given to those who contributed to revitalizing Daejeon's medical tourism.
Yoon Seong-guk, president of the Daejeon Tourism Organization, said, “I hope that through this medical tourism forum, foreign patient attraction organizations and partner organizations will strengthen their specialized capabilities and inter-organizational cooperation systems in related fields to respond to the rapidly changing medical tourism market,” adding, “We will continue to make efforts so that Daejeon can establish itself as a leader in medical tourism.”
