Daejeon Tourism Organization Actively Promotes Initiatives to Attract Medical Wellness Tourists

Daejeon Metropolitan City and the Daejeon Tourism Organization announced in March their efforts to invigorate the attraction of medical wellness tourists and to strengthen capacities through the promotion of leading medical wellness institutions and the support for establishing overseas bases.

The project to support the establishment of overseas branch offices is aimed at institutions registered to attract foreign patients in Daejeon. It also supports pre-consultation and after-care for foreign patients by operating overseas bases to promote continuous marketing activities. In 2023, overseas branch offices were established in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, focusing on attracting Vietnamese medical wellness tourists. This year, selected institutions like Daejeon Sun Hospital plan to use the Sun Hospital International Check-up Center established in the USA to target overseas Koreans for promotional marketing. Meanwhile, Living International Co., Ltd. intends to collaborate with local travel agencies in Japan to set up an overseas base and target Japanese medical wellness tourists for promotional marketing.

The project to support the development of leading medical wellness institutions targets Daejeon-based institutions that attract foreign patients, offering to cover 50% of the costs associated with promotional marketing. This initiative aims to enhance these institutions' independent overseas marketing capabilities, paving the way for attracting foreign patients and expanding the readiness to accommodate them, thereby strengthening the medical wellness tourism ecosystem. After a thorough evaluation, four institutions – Sun Hospital, Barun Mind Hospital, Bella-Rajue Women’s Clinic, and Marathon Orthopedic Hospital - were selected for the leading medical wellness institution support project. These selected institutions plan to enhance their readiness to attract foreign patients by participating in overseas exhibitions, fam tours, and medical infrastructure development.
