Daejeon International Wine Expo The nation's largest wine & liquor fair

The 2024 Daejeon International Wine Expo, Korea's largest wine expo hosted by the Daejeon Tourism Organization, was held at the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) 2nd Exhibition Hall from Friday, November 1 to Sunday, November 3. This year, Hungary was the guest country, with 230 companies from 17 countries participating, and various programs such as the newly launched 'Organic Wine Show' and 'Chicken Pairing Contest' were held.

During the expo, the Asia Wine Trophy, the only wine competition in Asia certified by the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), was also held. The Asia Wine Trophy, now in its 12th year, featured 3,527 wines from 33 countries worldwide, and 104 wine experts from 22 countries worldwide participated in the evaluation. The wines were selected through a strict screening process, and 30% (1,058 wines) were awarded medals engraved with the Hanbit Tower, a symbol of Daejeon, and the name of Daejeon, Republic of Korea, to promote Daejeon to the world.

In addition, around 70 major domestic importers and distributors and over 60 overseas wine producers participated, introducing hundreds of types of wine and various types of alcohol to visitors to the expo, allowing visitors to enjoy a variety of wines in one place, establishing it as the largest wine expo in Korea in name and reality.

In addition, the Korea National Sommelier Competition was held in the Grand Ballroom on the 2nd floor of the Daejeon Convention Center's 1st Exhibition Hall from Saturday, November 2 to Sunday, November 3 to select the Korean national sommelier who would compete in the World Championships. In addition, wine-specialized programs such as the International Wine Conference, where wine lovers and citizens could participate together and build knowledge and networks about wine, were also held.
