The Daejeon Tourism Organization conducted a two-day training program for individuals' professional development to enhance the capacity to attract foreign patients. This program occurred at the Daejeon Convention Center from August 29th to 30th. Collaborating with the Korean Health and Welfare Talent Development Institute, the training targeted professionals currently working in medical institutions within the jurisdiction, universities, and the medical wellness sector, pushing forward with the initiative to cultivate expertise in medical wellness tourism.
This educational initiative was driven with the goal of fostering professionals to invigorate Daejeon's medical wellness tourism. Of the 21 registrants, including married immigrant women, college students, and individuals affiliated with medical institutions and agencies targeting foreign patients, 15 (including four foreigners) successfully completed the course.
The professional training curriculum covered diverse topics such as ▲ the current status and prospects of Daejeon's medical wellness tourism, ▲ an introduction to domestic medical wellness tourism and a comparative analysis of exemplary cases from other cities, ▲ hands-on coordinator marketing strategies, and ▲ medical laws and regulations on the attraction of foreign patients. The aim was to deepen the participants' industry understanding and enhance practical capabilities.
Experts actively engaged in the field were brought in to deliver the training: Yoon Young-sook, the team leader of Daejeon Tourism Organization; Jung Hye-won, team leader from the Korea Health Industry Development Institute; Shin Young-jong, CEO of MEDIROUND; Shin Tae-seop, attorney at C&E Law Firm; and Kim Yu-seon, CEO of THEONE MEDICAL.
The president of the Daejeon Tourism Organization, Yoon Seong-guk, expressed, “Both institutions will strive to ensure that professionals are effectively utilized in the field through the expansion of Daejeon's pool of medical wellness tourism experts.” He added, “To attract a significant number of foreign patients to Daejeon, it's essential to reinforce the capabilities of professionals in related fields. We are committed to putting our best efforts into expanding the training of medical wellness tourism professionals.”
